Fat transfer is a treatment that addresses areas that has experienced a loss in volume, which creates an aged look and appearance. Fat transfer utilizes fat from one area of the body and injects it in other areas to restore volume, plump up an area to regain a more youthful appearance.
Although fat transfer can be used to treat a large variety of areas, the most common areas are the face, hands, buttocks and breasts.
Hearty fat is typically the hardest type of fat to lose and is locate in areas such as the lower abdomen, hips, “love handles,” and inner thighs. Thus, these areas with greater hearty fat volume are used more often as donor areas.
Another thing to consider in fat transfer treatment: Hearty fat that is transferred to other areas is also heartier in the new areas where they have been moved.
Also, fat is best transferred to areas where there was fat previously.
