Family can be stressful, we all know that. But what you may not know is that they could also be making you fat. According to a recent study performed by the University of California, obesity is “socially contagious,” meaning you’re at risk of getting fat just by being emotionally tied to a friend or family member who is obese. And they’re not just talking about absorbing similar habits of those around you – researchers in fact believe that being around someone overweight alters how you perceive an acceptable weight. Maybe Uncle Joe isn’t the epitome of health after all?
Let’s look on the bright (healthy) side. According to this study, if you’re hanging around fit family members and friends, you may actually have an unusually high standard of health and fitness.
