The most critical part of this prep phase is the anesthesia. We use local anesthesia or light sedation. We do not need to put you under general anesthesia, which is a huge benefit of this procedure. It saves time and reduces risk. However, local anesthesia takes time to take effect. We apply numbing agents and inject the local anesthetic into the treatment area. We then wait for roughly 20 to 30 minutes to ensure the area is completely numb. Your comfort is our top priority. We do not rush this step.

Once you are numb and ready, the actual work begins. Dr. Berger will make a tiny incision so small it barely requires a stitch. A specialized probe is inserted just under the skin.
