Thread Lift FAQs

  • Q. Who is a good candidate to have a thread lift procedure?

    A. Thread lifts, such as Silhouette InstaLift and Novathreads, can benefit both men and women who wish to rejuvenate their appearance without undergoing major surgery, injections, or lasers. This minimally-invasive technology is specifically made to lift sagging skin.
  • Q. What are thread lift sutures made of?

    A. Silhouette InstaLift sutures are made up of glycolide/L-lactide (PLGA), a polymer that is tolerated well by the body, making it an ideal substance to use in medical devices. The Instalift sutures are fully absorbable, and are created with bidirectional cones to provide lift and anchoring to tissues.
Novathreads sutures are made of Polydioxanone (PDO) is a strong synthetic monofilament fiber consisting of one solid fiber of thread which has been used as a cutaneous and subcutaneous suture material in plastic surgery, Cardiothoracic surgery, trauma surgery, & gynecological surgery for over thirty years.
  • Q. Are thread lifts FDA cleared?

    A. Both Novathreads and Silhouette InstaLift threads are FDA-cleared sutures.
  • Q. What can thread lifts do to improve my appearance?

    A. Thread lifts are a minimally-invasive option to lift the deeper layers of skin to enhance facial contours. This procedure can help transform your aging, sagging skin for a more youthful appearance.
  • Q. What areas of the face do thread lifts treat?

    A. Dr. Berger uses this procedure to treat the mid-face and cheek regions of the face, increasing volume and restoring contours as well as the brow, jawline, neck, upper arms and knees.
  • Q. How is a thread lift procedure performed?

    A. The thread lift procedure is done in-office by thread lift pioneer, Dr. Berger. He will start by marking the treatment areas on the patient. A needle or a cannula will then gently be inserted and the threads placed into the subcutaneous tissue, lifting the skin. Because the Instalift sutures have bidirectional absorbable cones, and the Nova threads have tiny barbs that grab the tissue the threads are easily held into place. Treatments commonly take about 45 minutes.
  • Q. How long do thread lifts last?

    A. Silhouette InstaLift results last from 1 to 2 years. Novathreads lift last 6 to 12 months.
  • Q. Can the threads be removed?

    A. Yes, when indicated. However, this is generally unnecessary and happens infrequently.
  • Q. What happens when the threads get absorbed?

    A. The threads stimulate collagen production, and are replaced by a thin rope of collagen, providing ongoing lifting and long-lasting results.
  • Q. Is general anesthesia required?

    A. No general anesthesia is used during this procedure. Instead, Dr. Berger will use a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort before inserting the sutures.
  • Q. How much do thread lifts cost?

    A. Treatment fees vary from practice to practice, and are dependent on each patient’s individual’s goals and the number of sutures required. For information on pricing, contact Rejuvalife Vitality institute today.
  • Where can I have thread lifts performed?

    A. Thread lifts should only be performed by a qualified professional who has undergone special, in-depth training. Dr. Berger was among the first to adopt the thread lift in Los Angeles and in California. With over 13 years of thread lift experience, you can trust Dr. Berger with many thread lift techniques and products.
