Advanced Forms of Liposuction Lead to Quicker Recovery and Less Pain

Over the years, more advanced forms of liposuction have become more popular among men women who desire a smoother and sleeker figure. Men are also jumping on the bandwagon because they’re starting to see the same results women experience through non-invasive and virtually painless procedures.

advanced liposuctionMen and women alike are starting to realize that they don’t need to spend countless hours in the gym when they can achieve the same results in a one-hour session with a skilled cosmetic surgeon. In today’s fast-paced society, people want quick results, and advanced liposuction offers a faster, safer, and more way to remove unwanted fat from the system.

By definition, liposuction is a surgical technique that improves the body’s contour by removing excess fatty deposits located between the skin and muscle.

In traditional forms of liposuction, the doctor uses a small stainless steel tube, called a cannula, which is connected to a powerful suction pump and inserted into the fat through small incisions in the skin. During the procedure, the surgeon uses the cannula to remove the fat, thus creating tiny tunnels throughout the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse, resulting in a smoother, shapelier figure. As you can imagine, patients going through this procedure experience a certain amount of pain, scarring, and downtime from daily activities.

With the advent of newer and much improved procedures on the market today, some of the more traditional liposuction methods and procedures have gone by the wayside, as cosmetic surgeons no longer use knives and scalpels to remove unwanted fat from your body. Today, knives and scalpels are replaced with lasers, ultrasound, and even freezing techniques. The best part about newer liposuction techniques is that you experiences less downtime, pain, and scarring. In some cases, surgeons may use older liposuction techniques combined with the newer ones, but at the end of the day, patients still experience less down time, and more importantly, less pain.

Take for example, a newer technique called SmartLipo. Put simply, SmartLipo is a liposuction procedure where the surgeon uses a laser (instead of a cannula) to destroy unwanted fat cells, leading to a much faster recovery than traditional forms of surgery.

Also new to the world of liposuction is a procedure called Coolsculpting, which is an FDA-approved technique that uses a targeted cooling process in order to kill the fat. In this process, only the fat cells are frozen, and not the skin. Once the fat cells are crystallized, they die off, and are eliminated from your body—permanently.

The list of different liposuction procedures available on the market today is too long to mention here however, most of them are safe, effective, and less-invasive. As always, it’s a good idea to consult your physician before moving forward with any form of liposuction procedure.
